The South Sudan Kickboxing, MMA & Muay Thai Federation sincerely appreciates Anzha MMA for the successful organisation of the recently concluded Anzha MMA Contender 8 Amateur Fight and for providing our athletes with a platform to compete and gain valuable experience.
The Federation was represented by two fighters, Diing Chol and Simon Ladu, who both gave their best and represented South Sudan with determination.
We would, however, like to respectfully express our concern regarding the stoppages in both bouts. In both cases, the fights were stopped while our fighters were using defensive positions, including raising their arms to protect themselves. We believe that where a fighter is actively defending, responsive, and able to continue safely, the opportunity should be given for the contest to continue and for the fighters to determine the outcome inside the cage.
We raise this not to undermine the officials or organisers, but as constructive feedback aimed at supporting the development of our athletes and the sport of MMA in the region.
We once again thank Anzha MMA for the event and for the work being done to create competitive platforms for fighters. We value the experience gained by our athletes and look forward to participating in future events.
